The Two Garrison Command of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has launched its maiden newsletter to serve as a voice and project the activities of the garrison to the wider military community.
The newsletter, dubbed: “The Trident”, sought to highlight not only the operational achievements and ceremonial duties of detachments within the garrison, but also the everyday efforts of personnel that often went unnoticed.
Naval Captain Michael Cudjoe, Chairman of the Newsletter Editorial Board, speaking at launch of the newsletter, at Essipong in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis, said the occasion marked a significant step in strengthening their internal communication and projecting the image of the garrison to both personnel and the wider military community.
He said: “The name Trident was not chosen by chance and just as the trident is a three-pronged symbol of strength and precision, our garrison represents the seamless collaboration of the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
“Here, we do not serve in silos; we serve as one body committed to the singular goal of defending our nation and supporting its development so this publication, therefore, aims to reflect the power of that unity.”
Captain (GN) Cudjoe, also the Command Operations Officer (COO), Western Naval Command, stated that the purpose of the newsletter was to inform, educate, motivate, and inspire, adding that through this medium, they intended to capture the activities, achievements, challenges, and human stories that defined their service as military personnel.
“We want every soldier, officer, and civilian staff to feel connected, recognised, and represented, and this newsletter is one of many steps towards amplifying our voice, enhancing our internal and external public relations, and showcasing the relevance of our efforts to the communities we serve,” he noted.
He said it would highlight operational achievements, training activities, welfare initiatives, social events, and the remarkable stories of individuals who embody dedication and excellence.
Commodore Samuel Ayelazono, Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command, said as the only garrison with all the three services of the GAF, it was imperative that they had their own newsletter to chronicle the garrison’s milestones.
“The reason is that sometimes when we send our stories to Accra, understandably, some of the stories are left out.
“So, we thought why don’t we have our own newsletter to chronicle our own activities and, successes and challenges among others,” he said.
Cadre Ayelazono, thus, commended the team for their tireless efforts in establishing the newsletter, and encouraged personnel to share experiences and feedback to help keep the publication vibrant, diverse, and inclusive.
