AC Milan have fired their coach Paulo Fonseca after less than six months.
Fonseca replaced Stefano Pioli at the San Siro last summer but has struggled to continue the strong work of his predecessor as the Serie A giants have slipped to eighth in the table.
Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Roma was the Portuguese’s last game in charge, with the Reds confirming his departure just 12 hours later.
“AC Milan announces that Paulo Fonseca has been relieved of his duties as coach of the men’s first team,” reads a press release from the club.
“The club expresses its gratitude to Paulo for his great professionalism and wishes him the best in his future endeavours.”
Milan have announced that Fonseca’s compatriot Sérgio Conceição, who left Porto last summer, will be his immediate replacement.
