FIPAG relaunches with a bold vision to train 1,600 fire estimation technicians

The Fire Protection Association of Ghana (FIPAG) has officially relaunched with a clear and urgent mission to address the critical shortage of fire safety professionals across the country.

In a move that highlights the Association’s focus on practical solutions, Mr. Ohene Mensah Budu, Board Chairperson FIPAG, announced a major initiative to build a national network of 1,600 fire estimation technicians, 100 for each of Ghana’s 16 regions.

He said the ambitious programme  aimed to close a significant gap in regional fire protection representation.

Mr. Budu noted that currently, many areas lacked the skilled technicians needed to properly assess and manage fire risks.

“By training these professionals, FIPA intends to ensure that every region has the expertise required to enhance fire safety and protect communities. The technicians will be equipped with the skills necessary to provide hands-on support and certification, building a more resilient Ghana,” he said.

The Board Chairperson noted that FIPA had made a direct appeal to the National Insurance Commission (NIC) to fund the initiative.

He emphasised  that the effort would not only boost public safety but also create jobs and contribute to the nation’s economic development.

Mr. Henry Boni-Quarshie, President    Electronic Security Association of Ghana (ESAG), expressed his association’s full support for FIPAG’s efforts, recognizing the increasing link between fire protection and electronic security.

He noted that effective fire safety required integrated systems and called for joint training and policy advocacy to create a smart safety infrastructure in Ghana.

He said both associations were ready to work together to develop integrated safety frameworks and advise on regulatory modernization.
