Fidelity Bank Ghana, in partnership with Akuna Pod, has organised a “Creators’ Economy Masterclass” to equip emerging creatives and entrepreneurs with skills for financial growth.
The programme, held under the Bank’s Orange Inspire initiative, aimed to provide participants with the knowledge, tools, and advisory support needed to unlock economic value from creative work.
It was held on the theme: “Turning Creativity into Currency” at the Akuna Group headquarters in Accra.
Mr Kwame Abrokwa, Senior Sustainable Finance Manager at Fidelity Bank, said the initiative formed part of the Bank’s renewed, data-driven commitment to positioning creativity as a catalyst for national development.
He said the partnership with Akuna Group was designed to offer “foundational tools” that helped creatives build bankable and competitive brands.
“We are actively working towards a future where creatives have a clear seat at the table, where their businesses can access the same opportunities, respect, and financial structures afforded to more traditional sectors,” he added.
The masterclass featured expert-led sessions tailored to the unique needs of the creator economy.
Mr Albert Francis Swanzy, Relationship Manager at Fidelity Bank, shared insights on structuring creative brands for profitability, managing cash flow, and positioning for investment.
Ms Evelyn Bediakoh-Adu, a Legal Practitioner, educated participants on Intellectual Property rights, stressing that protecting creative assets was essential for monetisation and long-term value creation.
Ms Mariam Kaleem A-Buahin, Chief Operating Officer of Akuna Group, outlined the company’s role in building capacity and providing physical and digital infrastructure across Africa.
“Everything we do here is to ensure that everyone who believes they are creative can find a place for themselves,” she said.
Ms A-Buahin highlighted the Akuna Wallet as a tool for financial inclusion, enabling creators to receive payments globally, and detailed ongoing investments in physical studios in Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Tanzania.
“At the end of the day, creators are entrepreneurs. You just need an ecosystem around you to take you to the next level – and that is where we want to come in,” she added.
The AkunaPod Creative Hub provides content creators, actors, musicians, and storytellers with the tools, resources, and environment to thrive.
It aims to bridge creativity with business and financial sustainability, while connecting African creative talent to global markets.
