The Federation of Muslim Councils (FMC), Ghana has extended its heartfelt condolences to the President, Government, and the deceased families of the helicopter crash on August 6, 2025.
“We are saddened by the tragic helicopter crash that has claimed the lives of esteemed government officials and military personnel,” a statement by Hajj Muhammad Amir Nii Kpakpo Addo, Secretary of the FMC, has said.
A Ghana Armed Forces helicopter on August 6 crashed, killing eight persons on board.
The deceased were Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, and Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator.
The rest were Dr Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman, National Democratic Congress, Mr Samuel Aboagye, former Parliamentary Candidate for Obuasi and Deputy NADMO Coordinator, Squadron Leader Peter Baafemi Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
The FMC said, “May Allah grant the deceased Jannal-al-Firdaus (Garden of Paradise) and give their families patience, fortitude, and solace during this difficult time.
“We pray that Allah comforts the bereaved families and friends, granting them strength and resilience. May the legacy of the deceased continue to inspire us all.”
It added, “To the bereaved families, we offer our sincerest sympathies and support. May Allah be with you during this challenging time. May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace. Aamin.
“Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him, we will return.”
