The family of eight-year-old Jenessi Afenya Amponsah, who died under mysterious circumstances, has appealed to the Inspector General of Police to expedite investigations into her death.
Jenessi, a pupil of Golden Child Educational Complex in Berekum East Municipality, reportedly died during her school’s graduation ceremony on July 29, 2025, after a stampede.
At a news conference in Berekum, her mother, Mrs. Beatrice Afenya Kyere, said the family suspected foul play and urged the police to probe the cause of the stampede and her daughter’s death.
Her father, Mr. Charles Kyere, based abroad, expressed disappointment that the school authorities failed to inform him promptly or visit the family to commiserate during the funeral.
He described Jenessi as “an exceptional child,” stressing that the family would continue to pursue justice for her.
