The Electoral Commission (EC) has appealed to Ghanaians for support in its efforts to ensure credible and transparent elections, amid disputes over the re-collation and declaration of parliamentary results in key constituencies.
EC Chairperson Jean Mensa underscored the importance of public cooperation in preserving the integrity of the electoral process. She emphasized that credible elections require collective effort, urging citizens to maintain peace and order.
The contested constituencies include Nsawam Adoagyiri, Dome Kwabenya, Ablekuma North, and Okaikwei Central.
âWe would like to finally call on the citizens of Ghana to support us in our bid to carry out our mandate. May God bless all of you and may God bless our homeland Ghana and make her great and strong,â Mensa said.
Reaffirming the ECâs position, Mensa stated that the parliamentary results for Dome Kwabenya, Okaikwei Central, and Ablekuma North remain invalid. She revealed that declarations in these constituencies were made under duress, with electoral staff facing threats and incidents of ballot paper destruction.
The Commission has yet to outline its next steps for resolving the ongoing disputes in these constituencies.
