The Paramount Chief of the Abeadze Dominase Traditional Area and the immediate-past Vice President of the National House of Chiefs, Dasebre Kwebu Ewusi, has called on politicians to refrain from instilling fear in the electorate as Ghana approaches the December 7 general elections.
Dasebre Kwebu Ewusi expressed concern that political rhetoric has turned the country into a battlefield, unnecessarily frightening voters. He reminded politicians that elections are a peaceful exercise where citizens simply choose their preferred leaders and urged them to accept the results, no matter the outcome, to ensure peace.
Speaking at the Akwambo festival on Saturday, August 31, 2024, Dasebre Kwebu Ewusi also called on the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa, to remain neutral, fair, and transparent in her role as the election referee. He advised that any concerns raised about the voters’ register be addressed to maintain confidence in the electoral process.
