Election 2024: Mocking Mahama only highlights his achievements – A Plus

Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus has criticized President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his remarks about former President John Dramani Mahama being the only president in the 4th Republic to serve just one term.

The independent parliamentary aspirant for Gomoa Central, argued that President Akufo-Addo’s attempt to mock Mahama by emphasizing his single four-year term is inadvertently boosting the former president’s campaign. Mahama, who is now the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), can point to numerous accomplishments from his time in office, while Akufo-Addo, according to A Plus, cannot boast the same after eight years in power.

“John Mahama had just four years in power, and I was very happy when Nana Akufo-Addo said that. Sometimes, it feels like Akufo-Addo has something against Dr. Bawumia because what he said came off as an endorsement of Mahama’s achievements,” A Plus commented.

He went on to list some of Mahama’s achievements during his four-year term, including the construction of a new port, the Ridge Hospital, the Bank of Ghana Hospital, the Afari Government Hospital, and the commencement of Free SHS and the E-block projects.

A Plus, who had supported Akufo-Addo’s presidential campaign, expressed his disappointment with the current administration. “I believed Akufo-Addo would do better, honestly. But he has failed to deliver on key promises like ending illegal mining (galamsey). It wouldn’t surprise me if he benefits from it,” he added.
