Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, Inspector General of Police and head of the Election Security Task Force, has appealed to Ghanaians to participate in the 2024 General Elections freely and peacefully. He emphasized the importance of a smooth and orderly process during the exhibition period.
Addressing a gathering of security agency heads at the Electoral Commission’s corporate head office in Accra, IGP Dampare highlighted the public’s critical role in maintaining peace and stability. He urged Ghanaians to verify their details in the voters register without fear or hesitation, stressing that this exercise is crucial for the electoral process’s integrity.
IGP Dampare also warned political parties and their supporters against taking the law into their own hands, cautioning them to resolve any issues or disputes through proper channels. He emphasized that security services are fully prepared to manage any challenges, with rapid response teams deployed across all 38,620 polling stations nationwide.
The IGP thanked the public for their cooperation and called on all stakeholders, including the media, to continue playing their part in ensuring a peaceful and successful electoral process.
