Ejura to Get Farmers’ Service Center, Improved Trade Facilities – Mahama

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flag bearer, John Dramani Mahama, has outlined plans to establish a state-of-the-art farmers’ service centre in Ejura to improve agricultural efficiency and productivity in the Ejura-Sekyeredumasi constituency.

The predominantly agricultural area is one of four zones held by the NDC in the Ashanti region.
Speaking at a campaign rally on the first day of his six-day tour of the Ashanti region, Mr Mahama pledged to introduce a fair accounting system to promote equity in the sale of grain and seeds.

He also announced plans to build a modern market to boost business activities in the constituency.
“We will establish a farmers’ service centre. 15 tractors and other farm implements will be parked there. Farmers will have to register to buy tractors. If you request a tractor to work on your farm, it will be given to you. If you need fertilizer, you will go to the Agricultural Service Centre, where all your agricultural inputs will be sent to you.

To support women entrepreneurs, Mr. Mahama disclosed that a branch of the Women’s Development Bank would be established in Ejura, which will provide financial assistance to women traders. He also promised that an NDC government would grant two public holidays to Muslims during the Eid al-Fitr celebrations, doubling the current number of public holidays.

He also assured that the Agenda 111 hospital project, initiated by the current administration, would be completed if QDH returns to power.
At the end of his speech, Mr. Mahama warned against the “skirt and T-shirt” vote, urging voters to vote in unity for the NDC parliamentary candidate and a presidential ticket to strengthen the party’s overall influence.

“You will pay a small amount after you sell your agricultural products. We will eliminate the use of the size 5 to measure the price of bags of cereals.” We will introduce size 4. We will also build a new market in Ejura. We will establish one of the Women’s Development Bank centers here in Ejura.

“The new NDC government will give two public holidays to Muslims during Eid al-Fitr celebrations instead of the current single day. We do not want ‘skirt and blouse’.”

Meanwhile, Mahama also promised to establish another farmers service center in Wiomoase in Afigya Sekyere East Ward to revive farming activities in the area.

The National Democratic Congress flag bearer also assured his constituents of his commitment to attracting investors to build factories in the constituency, with a view to improving agricultural productivity and strengthening the local economy.
