Effutu Police Command assures peaceful Easter celebrations

The Effutu Divisional Command of the Ghana Police Service has promised to ensure a peaceful Easter celebration this year, devoid of crimes and accidents.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Mr Abraham Opoku, Effutu Divisional Police Commander, gave the assurance in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on their readiness to protect lives and property during the occasion.

It would as well combat crime during the upcoming Aboakyer Festival which would commence from April 27 to Saturday, May 5.

He said a number of personnel had been deployed at some vantage points in the municipality, including residential areas, the beaches, recreation and event centres, lorry parks, markets and Easter convention grounds to ensure an incident free festival.

According to him a number of snap checks mechanism were ongoing, meant to clamp down on criminals, especially armed robbers and violent criminals.

ACP Opoku stated that patrol teams have intensified their day and night patrols to ensure that each one in Effutuman executed his or her work without any hindrances.

He further cautioned drivers to comport themselves while driving and avoid over speeding, wrongful overtaking and adhere to road safety regulations to prevent road crashes

According to him a number of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), personnel are also on the ground to make sure that drivers who ply the roads abide by road traffic rules and regulations.

ACP Opoku appealed to the public to promptly inform the police of all crime related activities for necessary action as their contribution for incident free festivals.
