Eco Impact Network donates school materials to needy pupils

Eco Impact Network, a non-government organisation (NGO) dedicated to environmental and climate advocacy, has extended support to brilliant but financially disadvantaged pupils at the Nungua SDA Basic A, B, and C Schools.
The donation, which included assorted school materials, including a mathematical set, pens, crayons, school uniforms, a cash package, and others amounting to GHC 6,920.00, was part of the organisation’s ongoing school outreach programme aimed at promoting environmental awareness and improving educational outcomes in underserved communities.
Mrs. Gifty Ofori-Yeboah, Executive Director of Eco Impact Network, made the presentation during a brief ceremony held at the school premises and explained that the NGO had been engaging in community education on environmental preservation across various basic schools.

Mrs. Ofori-Yeboah added that through these engagements, the organisation identified pupils who, despite their academic potential, faced severe financial challenges that hindered their educational progress, hence the need to support their academic journey to build their future to champion the cause of environmental sustainability.
She explained that the gesture was part of a broader initiative by the NGO to support education as a pathway to environmental consciousness and added that the organisation plans to institute a monitoring and evaluation mechanism to assess the long-term impact of the support given.
She urged the pupils to remain committed to their education and strive to achieve greater heights, regardless of their current circumstances, and appealed for sponsorship to extend the gesture to more young people.
“This reflects when I was also in primary school; all my mother could do was buy me two exercise books for the term, and I was to use those exercise books for all the subjects, so I’d divide one into three halves and use the same book for homework and exercise, and upon all that, the lord has brought me this far. I’m even now pursuing my master’s, so when we also support them, they’ll go far,” the Executive Director stated.

The headteachers of the schools expressed profound gratitude to Eco Impact Network for the timely support and highlighted the dire need for educational materials in the school, noting how the lack of basic learning tools like exercise books, pens, and school uniforms continues to affect academic performance.
Mr. Simon Kwasi Aboagye, headteacher of Nungua SDA Basic B, stated: “When you give work, you want the outcome for you to know the remedial lesson you’ll give to the child, but they’re not having exercise books or even common pens or pencils means they’re not having them. So, these things that we have received today, they’ll help them in many ways.”
Ms. Esther Atonyo, one of the beneficiaries, thanked the NGO for their support and pledged to use the materials to improve her academic performance.
She expressed optimism that the resources provided would enhance her productivity and enable her to contribute meaningfully to her community’s development.
