EC opens nomination process for 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections

Starting Friday, August 2, 2024, interested candidates for the upcoming December 7, 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections can download nomination forms from the Electoral Commission’s (EC) website. The EC will begin accepting nominations from Monday, September 9, to Friday, September 13, 2024.

According to the announcement, the nomination process adheres to Regulations 6, 7, and 9 of the 2020 Public Elections Regulations (C.I 127). Candidates interested in the presidential race must be nominated on the official Nomination Forms of the EC. The completed forms must be signed by the candidates and not less than two registered voters from each District Assembly in Ghana.

The filing fee for presidential candidates is GH¢100,000, while female candidates and persons with disabilities are offered a reduced fee of GH¢75,000. For parliamentary candidates, the filing fee is GH¢10,000, with a reduced fee of GH¢7,500 for female candidates and persons with disabilities.

Nomination forms will be accepted at the following times each day during the nomination period: 9:00 am to 12:00 noon and 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The payment for presidential nominations must be made by Banker’s draft addressed to the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission. All inquiries related to the presidential election should be directed to the EC Chairperson, while questions regarding parliamentary elections should be addressed to the Returning Officers of the respective constituencies.
