State prosecutors have provided new details about the tragic road crash in East Legon, Accra, which led to the deaths of two 12-year-olds on October 12, 2024. The prosecution informed the court on Friday, November 1, 2024, that the 16-year-old son of Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako, Founder and General Overseer of Alive Chapel International Church, was allegedly showcasing the speed of his mother’s Jaguar F-Pace Sport when it collided with a black Acura carrying the young victims.
Reports indicate that Salifu Amoako’s son, accompanied by a friend, drove the white Jaguar to A&C Mall, where they met friends in two SUVs. Together, the three vehicles drove in a convoy through East Legon, with the accused leading in the Jaguar.
During proceedings at the Family and Juvenile Court in Accra, the 16-year-old pleaded not guilty to all charges. The court has remanded him into custody, setting specific conditions for his detention and care.
The court has ordered that his Ghanaian and US passports be surrendered by Monday, November 4, to comply with bail conditions. Additionally, the court directed that he undergo a medical review at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) on November 4, to monitor his health during remand.
In case of any urgent medical needs, the court has arranged for immediate treatment at the Police Hospital, ensuring that his healthcare requirements are met during the remand period. The next hearing is scheduled for November 7.
