Denkyirahene arrives at Dunkwa amidst wholesome welcome by chiefs and people

The streets of Dunkwa-on-Offin were filled with joy and excitement in the evening of Wednesday, October 29 as the newly enstooled Denkyirahene, Odeefo Boa Amponsem IV, arrived in the traditional capital to a rousing welcome from chiefs, elders, and the people of Denkyira.

From the break of dawn, residents from all walks of life thronged the principal streets, waving miniature flags of the Denkyira Kingdom, drumming, and dancing to traditional tunes as they awaited the arrival of their new king.

The atmosphere was charged with jubilation as cultural troupes displayed rich Denkyira heritage through music, dance, and poetry.

Accompanied by a grand retinue of sub-chiefs, linguists, and attendants, Odeefo Boa Amponsem IV’s arrival symbolised a new dawn for the Denkyira Traditional Area.

Clad in splendid traditional regalia, the Denkyirahene was greeted with the firing of muskets and the sound of fontomfrom drums, signifying the presence of royalty.

At Abankesieso, where the main durbar will be held Friday morning, divisional and sub-chiefs took turns to pay homage to the new Denkyirahene.

They expressed profound gratitude to the King and pledged for their unwavering support toward uniting and building the Denkyira Empire.

They pledged to promote unity, development, and cultural preservation across the traditional empire.

The event attracted several dignitaries, including political leaders, religious figures, youth groups, and representatives from sister traditional councils.

As the celebration continued deep into the evening, it was evident that the people of Denkyira had embraced their new leader with pride and hope, marking the beginning of a promising era under the reign of Odeefo Boa Amponsem IV.
