Renowned Nigerian Afrobeat star Davido has dismissed any rumours of conflict between himself and fellow musician Wizkid.

In a trending interview on BBC Radio, Davido explained the reason behind his hangout with Wizkid before the launch of his Timeless album in 2023. According to him, the meeting aimed to dispel rumours of animosity and ensure the album’s release was drama-free.

“I reached out to one of my fans, Tomiwa, who has influence over many. I told him, ‘Look, my album is coming out on Thursday. Please don’t engage in any fights with Wizkid’s fans.’”

Davido shared that he and Wizkid had spent time together shortly before the album’s release to show there was no hostility between them. “We were together just a few days ago, and we weren’t fighting,” Davido said. “I didn’t want any fan battles because I wanted my album to launch smoothly.”

However, he revealed that despite his efforts, some fan conflicts persisted. “Tomiwa still got into fights, and unfortunately, the album leaked two days before the official launch,” Davido added.

Reflecting on the situation, he acknowledged the fans’ positive aspects, saying, “These fans are amazing as well. They bring a lot of good energy.”
