The Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Kwasi Adu-Gyan, has issued a stern warning to Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) in the region, stating that any misuse or idleness of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) equipment will result in severe punishment.
The warning came during a ceremony in Techiman, where the region received earth-moving machines as part of the DRIP consignment. More machines are expected to arrive soon for distribution to the various districts.
Hon. Adu-Gyan acknowledged the region’s challenges with road infrastructure, despite being the country’s food basket. He expressed hope that the equipment would enable the assemblies to make roads more accessible and motorable for communities.
The minister emphasized the importance of maintenance to prolong the lifespan of the equipment and tasked the MDCEs to cultivate a culture of maintenance.
The Bono East Regional Manager for Zoomlion, Mr. George Kwasi Manu, reiterated that the company would maintain the equipment, supply spare parts, and provide technical training to ensure proper handling.
The DCE for Nkoranza North, Hon. Peter Osei-Fosu, expressed gratitude to President Nana Akuffo-Addo and Dr. Bawumiah for addressing the region’s challenges and promised to put the equipment to good use.
