Ghana’s men’s national team, the Black Stars, finished the year (2024) with just two wins from fourteen matches and fell to 77th in the world in the latest FIFA rankings published earlier today, December 19, but retained 14th place in Africa.
The Multiple African champions finished last year in 61st position in the latest publication which was made on December 21, 2023, and have since fallen massively.
Ghana earlier this year recorded another disastrous Africa Cup of Nations campaign after another group stage exit and hit back with a terrible winless run in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers later in the year.
From 14 matches this year, Ghana have recorded just two wins against Mali and the Central African Republic, all in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, seven draws and five defeats. They have scored 14 goals and conceded 21, a goal difference of -6 in the year.
Reigning world champions Argentina maintain their place at the top of the table, with France, Spain, England and Brazil completing the top five.
Morocco also finished as the highest-placed African nation, followed by Senegal, Egypt, Algeria and Nigeria in the continent’s top five.
The Black Stars are currently second in Group I with 9 points after four matches and face Chad next March in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifies.
