Black Queens Coach Nora Hauptle Resigns, Takes Over Zambia’s Copper Queens

Swiss coach Nora Hauptle has signed a two-year contract with the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) after stepping down as coach of Ghana Black Queens.

Nora Hauptle, whose name is set to be announced by Zambia next week, has rejected a contract extension offer from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to take on a new challenge at Zambia Copper Queens.

She was appointed coach of the Black Queens in 2023 following the dismissal of Mercy Tagoe by the Ghana Football Association.

Prior to her appointment, the 41-year-old coach was the technical advisor to the national women’s under-20 team, the Black Princesses, during the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.

During her tenure as coach of the Black Queens, she qualified the team for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) and won the 2023 WAFU Women’s Zone B Cup.

Nora Hauptle is expected to be announced by the Zambia Football Federation next week as the new coach of the Copper Queens following the sacking of Bruce Mwape.
