Bisa Kdei supports Mahama and Bawumia’s pledge to scrap betting tax, citing it as a safer alternative to crime

Ghanaian singer and record producer Bisa Kdei has expressed support for the promises made by former President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to eliminate the betting tax if either is elected. The multiple award-winning Highlife musician argued that betting offers a better alternative to criminal activities like armed robbery.

“In the past, betting might have been frowned upon, but today it’s a way for people to earn money,” Kdei said. He emphasized that betting provides a source of income for many unemployed youths, enabling them to support their families.

Kdei acknowledged that while betting has its risks, including both wins and losses, it still offers a viable means of making a living. “If betting is helping people survive, we should let it continue. It’s a far better option than theft or armed robbery. Without betting, and if there are no other ways for people to earn, they might be driven to crime,” he added.
