Biakoye MP empowers best SHS students

Madam Formadi Jean-Marie, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Biakoye Constituency in the Oti Region, has taken a step to motivate excellence by empowering the best fresh Senior High School (SHS) students in her area.
The 500 students, who achieved between aggregates 6-15, were singled out for recognition and supported with mattresses, chop boxes and two pairs of bed sheets.
This initiative by the MP aims to encourage academic excellence and reward students who have worked hard to achieve outstanding results during the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The MP’s gesture is expected to motivate the other students to strive towards excellence in their academic pursuits.
Madam Jean-Marie said she was inspired to recognise and reward brilliant students because education was the backbone of her constituency’s development and encouraged the youth to strive for excellence and make the most of the opportunities available to them.
“To our brilliant students, I urge you to continue striving for excellence and making us proud. Your hard work and dedication are the key to unlocking your dreams,” she said

She commended their parents and guardians for their unwavering support and commitment towards their children’s education, citing such a role as vital in shaping the future of the constituency.
The MP also acknowledged the dedicated role and tireless efforts of the teachers in molding the minds of these future leaders, saying “your passion and commitment to education are invaluable assets to our community.
Mr David Seddoh, the District Director of Education, said he was highly impressed by the MP’s gesture, saying the initiative would undoubtedly boost the morale of students and motivate them to excel academically.
He urged parents and guardians to complement the MP’s efforts by providing the remaining school items and ensuring their children were well furnished for the academic year.
Some beneficiaries who were engaged by the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the gesture by the MP would greatly impact their academic journey.
Ms Ruth Adiepena, a beneficiary, said the items they had received would help them to focus on their studies without worrying about some basic needs and thanked the MP for the support, promising to continue working hard to make her proud.
Some residents who spoke with the GNA, said they were thrilled to see their MP taking such a bold step to support their children, and referred to the gesture as unprecedented and setting up a new standard for leadership.
