BECE: GES lauds progress in Bono Region so far

Mr Luke Mensah, the Bono Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service (GES), has lauded the progress of the on-going Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the region.

He commended the candidates for their level of comportment and discipline, urging them to continue to do independent work for their own good.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, Mr Mensah said the BECE had not recorded any major challenge in the region.

He said: “we are still monitoring the examination; however, we haven’t received information about any nursing mother, pregnant girl, or persons with disabilities participating in the examination.”

Mr Mensah said statistics from the Bono Regional Education Directorate showed that a total of 24,109 candidates, comprising 12,345 girls and 11,774 boys, are taking the examination.

They are drawn from 805 Junior High Schools, comprising 243 public, and 562 private schools and writing the BECE at 84 centres, spread across the region, with 95 supervisors and 802 invigilators.
