The Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on party members to remain united and focused in the lead-up to the December Presidential and Parliamentary elections. He emphasized the need for an “emphatic victory” in both races to ensure a strong NPP presence in the next parliament.
Addressing a large crowd of supporters in Nkawkaw on Saturday as part of his campaign tour, Dr. Bawumia stressed the importance of voting not only for him but also for the party’s parliamentary candidates.
“It is just as important to vote for your parliamentary candidate as it is to vote for me,” he said, explaining that the NPP must secure a clear majority in Parliament. “You have all seen what has been happening with the 137:137 split in Parliament, and that is worrying. We don’t want a repeat of that.”
Dr. Bawumia commended the efforts of the party’s grassroots supporters and parliamentary candidates, noting that the NPP is well-positioned to win a decisive majority based on the momentum observed during his campaign visits.
“There is no doubt about it. If the elections were held today, the NPP would have a decisive majority in Parliament,” he stated confidently. “I have visited over 200 constituencies, campaigned on the ground, and analyzed the data. If elections take place today, NPP will secure a decisive majority.”
However, he cautioned supporters not to become complacent, reminding them that the official election date is still ahead.
“The election is on December 7, not today. But if we continue like this and stay united, by midnight on December 7, you will all hear that the NPP has secured a decisive majority in Parliament,” he concluded.
