The Vice Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has said that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is Ghana’s best option for the upcoming December elections.
Addressing members of the NPP’s TESCON group at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) on Tuesday, November 19, Dr. Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, highlighted Bawumia’s bold and practical solutions to address the challenges facing the youth.
He urged the assembly to work tirelessly to ensure the NPP’s victory in the 2024 elections.
“The future does not belong to us because we are here. The future does not belong to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia because he is here. He is the one who will lead you into the future. And ask yourself, who can be my father in such a way that the person cares for my well-being? All choices are about your well-being. »
NAPO also condemned the Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS) for filing a petition with the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) over the alleged discrimination in the non-curriculum secondary school.
Private schools argue that the government’s 30% priority placement policy, which reserves places in category A secondary schools for public school students, discriminates against private students.
However, on Tuesday, November 19, during a meeting with students of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), the NPP candidate rebuked private schools for their attitude. “I heard that the National Association of Private Schools of Ghana are telling us that they will go to court to stop the Free SHS from allocating 30% of places to poor children who attend public schools: what courage, what courage, what daring.
“The reality is that when i launched 30% for equity, I didn’t get it out of the sky. This already existed, but it was misused for the well-connected and privileged.”
