Barcelona Prepare to Poach Arsenal’s Thomas Partey in January Transfer Window

FC Barcelona are considering signing Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey when his contract with the London club expires next summer, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Catalans are short of cash. They are looking to sign Dani Olmo in January and are once again using leverage, but that may not be enough to bolster their squad.

As in the previous summer, Barca are preparing to attack the free transfer market to bolster their ranks and have turned to Partey, whose contract expires in 2025 and who has not been offered a new deal.
Partey has managed to stay in form this season despite his usual injury problems, playing 17 Premier League games, scoring two goals and providing two assists. He was also a mainstay of Arsenal’s UEFA Champions League campaign, starting all six games.

Barca are keen to sign the 31-year-old on a free transfer to replace Frenkie De Jong, who is proving to be a sore loser again this summer due to his exorbitant wages.
Although Partey is a good midfielder, Barcelona need to be more ambitious with their signings. With Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich set to become a free agent next summer, the Spanish club need to do everything they can to sign the German – they fit him like a glove.

The 29-year-old is said to be unhappy with sporting director Max Eberl trying to pay him less than his current annual salary of €20m. Kimmich is open to a move away from the Allianz Arena if the club continues to struggle. Several clubs are interested in signing him and Barca should be positioned in the front row for his signature.

Kimmich is a world-class player at centre-back and right-back, another area where Barca need to strengthen. He can cover both positions without a problem.
The open market is full of some exciting names and Barca should be ready to make their choice.
