Bankam CEO named Denkyirahene

The Denkyira Traditional Council has announced the nomination of Mr Kwame Mensah Oscar, Chief Executive Officer of Bankam Group of Companies, as the new Denkyirahene.

His appointment comes after the passing of  Odeefo Boa Amponsem III, who reigned for decades and left behind a legacy of unity, cultural preservation, and development.

Mr Mensah, a respected business leader and philanthropist, was chosen after extensive consultations with kingmakers, elders, and stakeholders within the Denkyira Traditional Area.

Known for his humility, strategic leadership, and commitment to social development, his nomination has been widely welcomed by both the youth and the elderly.

Making the announcement at the traditional council grounds in Jukwa, Nana Kwadwo Kobi, Denkyira Pomatsiaa, said Mr Mensah’s track record of leadership in the corporate world and his deep respect for tradition made him a suitable successor.

“He is not only a son of the land but also a man whose vision aligns with the future of Denkyira,” Nana Kobi said, adding, “we believe he will continue the legacy of Odeefo Boa Amponsem III while bringing modern insight to the chieftaincy institution.”

In his acceptance remarks, the incoming Denkyirahene expressed gratitude to the council and the people of Denkyira for the trust reposed in him and pledged to prioritise unity, education, job creation, and cultural heritage.

“I stand before you not just as an individual but your servant. Together, we shall promote development and ensure that Denkyira regains its pride as a beacon of tradition and progress,” he said.

The installation rites are expected to commence in the coming weeks, with cultural ceremonies, drumming, and dancing to usher him officially to the Denkyira stool.

Residents across Upper and Lower Denkyira expressed excitement, hoping the new Denkyirahene’s business acumen and connections would attract investments into agriculture and mining, and generate projects for youth empowerment.

The traditional area is expected to wear black and red attires until the final installation rites.

Mr Kwame Mensah Oscar, now set to ascend the stool and is anticipated to play a critical role in strengthening the bond between tradition and modern leadership in the Denkyira kingdom.

He is expected to make public appearance after 21 days of incarceration for the final customs and traditions for his installation to be finalised within 40 days.
