Balancing family life and music career is challenging – Rudeboy

Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy, got candid about his music career during an appearance on the Adesope live show, expressing that he and his contemporaries should have retired by now.

Reflecting on the music industry’s past, the 45-year-old singer noted that, traditionally, musicians didn’t stay in the spotlight for extended periods. He admitted that balancing his role as a family man with his career as a musician is becoming increasingly challenging.

“In the old ways of doing music, by now people like us should’ve retired,” Rudeboy said. “There’s a time for everything in life. If you’re a celebrity and you think people will always see you as an angel, trust me, you’re not going anywhere. There are times when things will be against you. It’s always like that.”

Rudeboy, who rose to fame in the 2000s as one half of the iconic P-Square duo alongside his twin brother, Peter Okoye (aka Mr P), experienced a successful career run. The brothers reunited after a brief hiatus from 2016 to 2021, only to part ways again in August 2024.
