Asanko Gold Ghana hands over multipurpose community center to Manso Nkran

The Asanko Gold Ghana as part of its wider Social Investment and Community Development Programme, has built a multipurpose modern community centre for the people of Manso Nkran in the Amansie South District.
The mining company also stocked the new facility with chairs, public address systems, and equipment to facilitate community gatherings, capacity building programmes and cultural exchange.
The ultramodern centre constructed at a cost of GH₵2, 318,209 is designed to address infrastructural gaps and promote social cohesion within the mining host communities.
Dr Charles Amoah, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Asanko Gold Ghana, during the handing over ceremony, noted that a lot could be achieved when communities, traditional authorities and the private sector aligned toward a common vision of sustainable development.
“From the Kwabenaso Primary School and the five-unit Asuadai Teachers’ Bungalows to the 60-bed Esaase Hospital and the many community centers we have built, each stands as clear evidence of our multi-million-dollar investment in improving lives and strengthening community infrastructure across our host communities.

Together, they reflect our conviction that responsible mining must advance side by side with social progress,” he indicated.
Dr Amoah said as part of the Asanko Five-Year Development Plan, the company has introduced and was actively implementing several impactful initiatives designed to empower host communities, enhance livelihoods, and build resilience.
They included scholarship schemes for needy students, agro-input support programmes and soap making initiative to empower women and youth.
Dr Amoah called for peaceful relations between the host communities and the mining company, adding that true development rested on coexistence, honesty, respect, and shared responsibility.
Nana Bi-Kusi Appiah II, Paramount Chief of Manso Nkwanta, commended the mining company for contributing to infrastructural development.
He advised the leadership of Manso Nkran and community members to ensure the proper maintenance, protection, and purposeful use of the building, which he believed had the potential to serve the township for a longer time.
The paramount Chief underscored the importance of peace and harmony, advising that dialogue and peaceful engagement should always be the preferred approach whenever tensions arise between the mining company and host communities, acknowledging that disagreements are inevitable.
He said violence undermined progress, and it was important for communities in the area and the Asano Gold Ghana to tolerate each other and champion development.
