Former captain of the Ghana national team, Asamoah Gyan has candidly admitted to being a womanizer during his peak years, acknowledging that it negatively affected his life. In an interview on Onua TV, the former Black Stars captain shared life lessons and regrets, advising young people to steer clear of womanizing, using his own experiences as a cautionary tale.
“Everyone has tendencies towards womanizing, but it didn’t help me. I advise couples to resolve their issues privately,” Gyan stated.
Gyan, who had been married since 2013, finalized his divorce from his wife in October 2023. The couple had three children together, and Gyan is now responsible for child support, while his ex-wife, Gifty, has custody of the children.
In a related development, Edwin Kusi Appiah, Gyan’s legal counsel, shed light on the circumstances that led to the divorce. Speaking to Kofi TV, Appiah revealed that Gyan initiated the divorce after receiving threats from another man claiming that Gyan’s three children were not biologically his. The situation escalated when it was suggested that the firstborn was not Gyan’s child.
Appiah explained that Gyan, troubled by these accusations, sought legal permission to conduct DNA tests, which eventually confirmed his paternity. Despite the confirmation, the ordeal deeply affected Gyan and ultimately led to the dissolution of his marriage.
