The Anlo Queenmothers Council in the Anloga District of the Volta Region have reaffirmed the support to Madam Sandra Seyram Kpedor, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area in her capacity to develop the district.
The courtesy call on the DCE was to congratulate her on the historic appointment as the first female DCE of the Anloga District Assembly.
Mama Wotorbe II, the President of the Council of traditional female leaders in the Anlo State, during the meeting, expressed their commitment to working closely with the DCE to advance the district’s progress for more development in various communities in the area.
“Our emphasis is on the importance of collective action in addressing developmental challenges affecting our communities, particularly the rising cases of teenage pregnancy among young girls in the district,” she noted.
She explained that the Anlo Queen Mothers Council was made up of Queen mothers from various states in the Anlo Traditional Area, who have been working tirelessly to promote the welfare of women and children in their communities.
She said their efforts had received local and international recognition and have become a model for other women’s groups in Ghana and beyond.
She explained that Queen Mothers in the area were known for their roles in promoting children’s and women’s rights and welfare in their communities, which were instrumental in advocating girls’ education, women’s empowerment, and community development.
“The meeting focused on key developmental challenges affecting Anloga district, which needed urgent attention to empower young women to pursue meaningful careers and brighter futures. Our support for the DCE is expected to boost efforts in addressing many challenges.”
Madam Sandra Kpedor, the DCE in her remarks expressed appreciation for the Queen Mothers’ visit and words of encouragement, which she described as a humbling and inspiring gesture.
She commended their commitment to community development and pledged to work closely with the Queen Mothers to promote growth, gender equality, and the overall well-being of the people of Anloga.
The DCE reaffirmed her dedication to inclusive leadership and collaborative efforts that would promote the development of the district while the collaboration is expected to lead to the implementation of projects that benefit women and children the most.
The Queenmothers’ support would also enable to mobilize women in the district to participate fully in decision-making processes for smooth and successful progress in developmental projects.
