Ace highlife musician Amakye Dede and his team have been involved in a car accident, his management confirmed in a statement issued on December 31, 2024.

The accident occurred on Sunday, December 29, at approximately 1:50 am, while traveling from Takoradi to Agona Swedru for a scheduled show. The incident happened between Apam and Winneba as they journeyed in a V8 Land Cruiser.

Following the crash, Amakye Dede and his team were rushed to Winneba Hospital, where they received treatment from 2 am to 6 am. Despite the ordeal, the highlife legend displayed resilience by proceeding to Kumasi later that morning for another scheduled performance. However, the physical strain prevented him from performing, and his band stepped in to deliver the show in his absence.

In their statement, the management team expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and thanked fans for their support and prayers.

“We deeply regret the impact this has had on our cherished fans, particularly those in Kumasi, and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused. Your understanding, patience, and unwavering support during this difficult time mean everything to us,” the statement read.

They assured fans that Amakye Dede would take a few days to recover and return stronger to continue delivering the iconic performances for which he is known.
