Alleged Trump Assassin Left Chilling Note, Prosecutors Reveal

Ryan Routh, 58, accused of attempting to assassinate former President Donald Trump, wrote a disturbing note months prior to the incident, outlining his deadly intentions. Prosecutors unveiled the shocking details in a court filing.

Note’s Chilling Contents

The handwritten letter, addressed to “The World,” explicitly stated: “This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump.” Routh further wrote: “I tried my best and gave it all the gumption I could muster.” He even offered a cash reward to anyone who could complete the job if he failed.

On September 15, a Secret Service agent spotted Routh near Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida, with a rifle. Routh allegedly moved the gun, prompting the agent to fire. Routh fled, leaving the weapon and other items behind. He was arrested shortly after.

Prosecutors found 11 rounds of ammunition, one chambered in the rifle, a handwritten list of Trump’s public appearances between August and October and Phone records showing Routh’s proximity to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort for nearly a month.

Routh has a history of multiple charges for stolen goods (1997-2010), a failed attempt to recruit foreign soldiers for Ukraine’s military in 2022 and being turned down by Ukraine’s legion due to age and lack of experience.

Upcoming Court Appearances

Routh faces:

– A hearing to determine pre-trial detention (Monday)
– An arraignment hearing (September 30) to plead guilty or not guilty to federal gun crime charges

Prosecutors argue Routh is a flight risk and danger to the community, seeking his continued detention.
