Liverpool manager Arne Slot has insisted defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is “fully committed to us” amid speculation over his future.
The England defender’s contract expires this summer and BBC sources say Real Madrid have made an approach – but no offer – to sign him in January, which the Reds have rejected.
Spanish media have also reported that Real were ready to sign the 26-year-old this month, but Slott is adamant they are not missing out and confirmed that Alexander-Arnold will remain in Liverpool’s starting line-up against Manchester United this week.
“I can tell you he will play on Sunday and hopefully he will play the same way he did last season,” Slott said.
“I think everyone has seen how well he has done in the first half of the season, how difficult it is here, how much he wants to win here. “I see him on the pitch, working every day. He’s fully committed to us and he’ll play on Sunday.”
There is also speculation about the futures of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, who are also in the final six months of their contracts at Anfield.
Slot added: “If it destabilised the Liverpool players if others were talking about them then we would definitely have a problem.
“If you play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, everyone is always talking about you, sometimes in relation to other clubs. That happens to our players very often. “There have been discussions about our players over the last six months and I don’t think they’ve been worried.”
