Independent presidential candidate Alan Kyerematen has revealed that he was responsible for 70% of the policies implemented during former President John Agyekum Kufuor’s administration.
Kyerematen questioned Kufuor’s endorsement of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the most suitable candidate to lead the nation. He demanded clarity on Bawumia’s achievements to justify the endorsement, challenging the former President to publicly outline Bawumia’s contributions.
“How long has former President Kufuor known Dr. Bawumia? What significant work has Bawumia done that qualifies him as the best person to lead this country? Kufuor should explain why he believes Bawumia is the ideal choice,” Kyerematen asserted.
Kyerematen emphasized his own track record, arguing that Kufuor had previously acknowledged his substantial contributions to the administration’s policies. He criticized Kufuor for appearing to downplay his role while endorsing Bawumia.
“Before I became a Minister, Kufuor knew my capabilities. He often stated that 70% or more of his administration’s policies originated from me. Now he wants to act as though he doesn’t recognize my contributions. It’s disheartening,” Kyerematen lamented.
His remarks come after Kufuor’s public appeal to Ghanaians to support Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, citing his expertise in the global digital economy as vital for the country’s future economic transformation.
