Akufo-Addo mourns passing of Akwatia MP

Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed profound regret over the death of Mr. Ernest Yaw Kumi, Member of Parliament for the Akwatia Constituency in the Eastern Region.
In a Facebook post, the former President said: “The legislator was adored and loved by party faithful and cherished by all who knew or shared acquaintances with him.

“My deepest sympathies go to his family, the House and the good people of Akwatia Constituency at this unimaginably difficult time.”
“May he find peaceful rest in the Bosom of the Almighty, until the Last Day of the Resurrection when we shall all meet again,” the former President added.
Mr. Kumi was reported to have passed on July 7, 2025.
Minority Leader Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin confirmed the death during Monday’s parliamentary session through an official communication on the floor of the House.
Parliament observed a minute of silence in honour of the late legislator.
