Nana Tutuwa V, the Queen mother of Agona Nyakrom Traditional Area, has admonished young ladies who will attend the Agona Nyakrom Akwambo festival to dress up decently and help promote the culture, customs and traditions of the area.
According to the Agonaman Queen mother, indecent dressing would not be tolerated at the festival, which started on Saturday, August 02, 2025 with massive clean-up exercise.
Nana Tutuwa joined the Omanhene of Agona Nyakrom Traditional Area, Okofo Katakyi Nyarkoh Eku X for the exercise.
The Queen mother said the festival was a process to learn the customs and traditions of the town and it was good the young ladies dresses decently during the festival.
Nana Tutuwa said this year’s festival has been dedicated solely for residents both at home and in the diaspora to raise enough funds to construct a female, male and children’s wards at the health centre to meet the health care needs of the fast growing population of Nyakrom.
The Agonaman Queen mother renewed her appeal to the citizens to get on board to contribute their quota towards the development of the town.
Nana Oteatuoso Osei Bonsu III, Tufuhene of Agona Nyakrom and Chairman of the 2025 Akwambo planning Committee, said the health walk with the Omanhene was intentionally included in the festival for the people to keep fit and prevent sudden illnesses and hidden sicknesses.
The Tufuhene used the occasion to caution the youth to desist from drug abuse and trafficking into the town during the festival, saying that the committee members were alert and anyone found culpable would be arrested and prosecuted.
Nana Osei Bonsu reiterated calls on President Mahama to create a new district to be known as Agona Central for Agona Nyakrom to get development considering the size of its growing population.
The Akwambo Planning Committee Chairman, appealed to the residents to help expand and upgrade the Nyakrom Health Centre into a district hospital to enhance quality health care delivery.
The Tufuhene said many activities have been rolled out as part of the ongoing celebration of the week-long festival, which would be attended by Paramount chiefs, Ministers of state, Municipal, Metropolitan, and District Chief Executives, and other high profile personalities.
