They’re both technically exes of tortured poets.

Alexa Chung and Joe Alwyn know all about tortured poetry, and if their most recent public outing is a clue, they have some knowledge about tennis, too.
Chung and Alwyn were spotted together at day 10 of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships on Wednesday. During the sporting event, which took place on July 10 at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London, the pair was spotted sitting next to each other while watching the match, occasionally chatting, and enjoying beverages. The actor wore a navy blue ensemble, while the model opted for a beige cable knit cardigan.

The internet, naturally, had some thoughts on Chung and Alwyn being seen together at the event. “that moment when Alexa Chung, a muse, and Joe Alwyn, another muse, come together to discuss how best they can maximize their joint slay,” one user wrote on X. Another fan shared the love letter written by Chung’s ex, Alex Turner (more on that later).
A separate user wrote, “no thoughts head has wild imagination of alexa chung and joe alwyn in wimbledon,” while another post read, “alexa chung and joe alwyn attending the same event…i prayed for times like this”
Chung and Alwyn also happen to both have musician exes. Alwyn was previously in a six-year relationship with Taylor Swift and has served as an inspiration for several songs in her expansive catalogue, including “Delicate,” “Gorgeous,” “Lover,” and more. Swifties also believe that the title of the pop star’s most recent album, The Tortured Poets Department, is an alleged nod to Alwyn’s WhatsApp group chat with Conversations With Friends co-stars Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott, called “The Tortured Man Club.”
As for Chung, she is the ex-girlfriend of Arctic Monkeys frontman, Alex Turner. The pair famously dated from 2007 to 2011 and Chung is widely believed to have inspired several tracks from the group’s 2011 and 2013 albums, Suck It and See and AM. Turner even wrote Chung a bit of romantic—and maybe slightly tortured—poetry; he penned a love note to her for Valentine’s Day that later made the rounds on the internet.

“My mouth hasn’t shut up about you since you kissed it,” Turner’s love note read. “The idea that you may kiss it again is stuck in my brain, which hasn’t stopped thinking about you since, well, before any kiss. And now the prospect of those kisses seems to wind me like when you slip on the stairs and one of the steps hits you in the middle of the back.”
Don’t read too much into Chung and Alwyn’s appearance at Wimbledon, though. The model is currently engaged to Tom Sturridge, and even wore her engagement ring to the match. Alwyn is not publicly tied to anyone at the moment, but he did address TTPD and the end of his relationship with Swift in June.

“I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years,” he said in an interview with The Sunday Times, “You have something very real suddenly thrown into a very unreal space: tabloids, social media, press, where it is then dissected, speculated on, pulled out of shape beyond recognition, and the truth is, to that last point, there is always going to be a gap between what is known and what is said. I have made my peace with that.”
