African Adventures Foundation supports Tegbi Health Centre with a detention ward

The African Adventures Foundation, a UK-based non-governmental organisation operating in Tegbi, has officially handed over a newly built and refurbished detention ward to the Tegbi Health Centre in the Anloga District.
This initiative aims to enhance healthcare delivery by enabling effective patient monitoring and improving overall welfare at the facility.
The handing-over ceremony was led by Mr Seth Azaglo Tay, the Programmes Director of African Adventures, on behalf of Mr Dave Tuck, Chief Operations Officer, and Mr Seva Vordzorgbe, the Country Director.
The project was undertaken to address a long-standing challenge faced by the health centre, ensuring that patients in need of extended medical supervision receive the necessary care.
The new detention centre is state-of-the art, fully air condition with two adjustable hospital beds.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr Kennedy Ekuanor, a senior staff member at the facility, highlighted the pressing need for a detention room, stating that its absence previously hindered effective healthcare delivery.
He said the lack of this essential facility forced medical staff to discharge patients prematurely, as they were unable to provide adequate post-treatment observation.

“The Tegbi Health Clinic has long suffered due to the absence of a detention room, which is a critical component of any healthcare facility.
“When we reached out to the African Adventures Foundation, they responded swiftly to our call. Their prompt intervention has significantly improved our capacity to provide quality care. We are deeply grateful for this support,” Mr Kennedy stated.
Madam Jemimah Misornu Akporlu, the Anloga District Health Director, who chaired the occasion, expressed appreciation for the organisation’s intervention and urged the clinic staff to utilise the new facility effectively, ensuring that patients received the highest standard of care.
“Quality customer service is a key aspect of healthcare delivery. I encourage all staff members to make full use of this facility for the benefit of our patients,” she remarked.
Echoing similar sentiments, Mr Ephraim Dodzi Jumpah, the Chairman of the Community Health Management Committee (CHMC) and Assembly Member for the area, applauded the African Adventures Foundation for its invaluable support.
He also called on other organisations and stakeholders to extend similar assistance to the health centre and other facilities within the district to enhance healthcare delivery.
Some patients receiving treatment at the clinic at the time of the handover expressed their excitement about the development.
The new detention room is expected to enhance patient management, reduce premature discharges, and improve healthcare outcomes at the Tegbi Health Centre.
