Ada Marks 88th Asafotofiam with Call for Unity

The people of Ada have marked the 88th Asafotofiam Festival with a renewed call for unity, peace, and cultural preservation.
It was under the theme: “Peace, Unity, and Justice: The Pillars of Our Progress.”
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Samuel Nartey George, Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram and Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation, emphasized the festival’s role in celebrating Ada’s ancestral bravery and promoting sacred traditions.
He said the symbolic gunshots and rituals commemorate warriors who fought to establish the Ada homeland and should inspire present-day efforts toward peace, unity, and justice.

Mr. George encouraged the people to uphold peace, stressing that investors are drawn to stable, harmonious communities. “Peace is preserved by treating one another with compassion, resolving conflicts with patience, and remembering we are one people,” he noted.
Nene Jetse Abram Kabu Akuaku III, Paramount Chief of the Ada Traditional Area and President of the Ada Traditional Council, highlighted the festival’s role in uniting the diaspora with those at home to reflect on shared history and identity.
He said true peace goes beyond the absence of conflict, requiring harmony in both internal and external human relations. He urged unity across gender, tribe, and socio-economic lines to drive the development of the Ada State.

On justice, Nene Akuaku III called for the rule of law, social equity, and moral accountability across institutions.
He commended the 2025 Asafotofiam Festival Planning Committee, led by Nene Agudey Obichere III, Manklalo of Ada State, for their efforts in organizing the celebration.
The event was graced by paramount chiefs, Members of Parliament, the Deputy Chief of Staff, and other dignitaries, and featured vibrant displays of Ada’s cultural heritage by youth groups.
