Roads and Highways Authority urged to upgrade Atigo Bridge

Mr Guggisberg Fiagbenu, Chairman of the Adidome-Juapong Transport Union, has appealed to the Ghana Road and Highways Authority (GRHA) to repair the deteriorating Atigo Bridge at Battor along the Adidome–Juapong Road.

Mr Fiagbenu, who is also the Assembly Member for the Adidome Central Electoral Area in the Central Tongu District, commended the Authority for recent interventions, including the reconstruction of the Aklakpa Bridge and the rehabilitation and expansion of the Tsetsekpo Bridge.

He said these developments had improved traffic flow and safety on the stretch. However, he noted that the Atigo Bridge remained a critical structure requiring similar attention to ensure uniform standards across major bridges on the route.

The Union Chairman emphasized that the Adidome–Juapong Road is a vital link for economic and social activities, facilitating the movement of people, goods, and services between communities.

He urged consistent infrastructure upgrades to maintain efficiency and safety.

Mr Fiagbenu expressed optimism that the GRHA would consider the request within its plans and resources in the interest of public safety and local development.

Copies of the appeal have also been forwarded to Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, for necessary attention.
