NCCE engages school children in anti-corruption campaign

The Bodi District Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has engaged students of two selected schools to educate them on their roles in the fight against corruption in the country.

The engagement, attended by students from Anglican and Presbyterian schools, at Sefwi Bodi in the Western North Region, was part of an anti-corruption campaign on the theme: “Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity.”

Mr Emmanuel Awotwi, the Bodi District Director for NCCE, speaking at the event said the campaign was aimed at educating the youth on the dangers of corruption, and promote a culture of integrity.

He said it was part of planned activities by the NCCE to empower young Ghanaians with knowledge and skills to combat corruption and promote good governance.

The NCCE Director told the students that as youth, uniting against corruption could help shape tomorrow’s future for better Ghana, because “corruption is a cancer that eats away our nation’s development.”

On his part, Mr Isaac Ofori, Investigator, Bodi District Office of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), explained corruption as the abuse of entrusted power for personal gains.

He then advised the students to desist from engaging in activities that would lead them to any form of corrupt practices.

“The future of this country lies in your hands, so do things that will bring value to your parents, and also lead you to your destiny and bright future,” he said.
