GNTDA graduates 23 apprentices at Sege

The Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association (GNTDA) has graduated 23 apprentices at a colourful ceremony held at Sege in the Ada West District.

The graduates, made up of 21 females and two males, marked the end of their training with a fashion show, modelling dresses they made as part of their practical assessment.

Mr Simon Fantevi, Sege Zonal Chairman of the GNTDA, said the association had been in existence for more than five decades and continues to play a crucial role in skills development within the district.
He encouraged parents to enroll in their wards with certified masters under the GNTDA, explaining that the association offers structured training, mentorship, and opportunities that benefit both parents and learners.

He reminded the graduates that the ceremony marked the beginning of their professional journey rather than its end.
“Do not think you are done with work and going home to relax. This is the point where you enter the profession fully,” he said.
He added that the way graduates presented themselves at their workplaces would influence their ability to attract and maintain customers.
Mr Henry Kuttor, Tema Regional Vice Chairperson of the GNTDA, highlighted the various courses and activities undertaken by the association, noting that the initiative provided technical, entrepreneurial, and character-building skills to apprentices.

He advised the graduates to remain focused on their profession and avoid drifting into roadside trading, emphasising that consistency was key to growth in the fashion industry.
Mr Timothy Teye Tokoli, Tema Regional Training Coordinator, expressed appreciation to parents, masters, families and supporters who contributed financially and morally to the training of the apprentices.
