Nana Kwame Gyabau, the Werenpemhene (sub-chief) of the Prang Traditional Area in the Bono East Region, has called on traditional authorities to spearhead the development process in their respective communities.
He said the chieftaincy institution played an essential role in facilitating accelerated national development, saying as the embodiment of the people, chiefs and queens ought to prioritise the development of the holistic growth and development of their subjects.
Nana Gyabau made the call when addressing a durbar of chiefs and people the Prang Traditional Area at Prang in the Pru West District to climax the 60 years anniversary of the enstoolment of Nana Kwadwo Nyarko III, the Paramount Chief of the area.
The event coincided with the 2025 celebration of the âNkyifie 2025â festival held on the theme: âPeace, prosperity and progressâ.
Nana Gyabau said: âChieftaincy has become an avenue for progressive developmentâ, saying with peace, unity and social cohesion, chiefs and queens could mobilise their people for development purposes.
He highlighted some of the achievements of Nana Nyarko III and added that the paramount chief would always be remembered for prevailing peace and stability in the area.
Besides, Nana Gyabau said the paramount chief also played instrumental role towards the establishment of Yapra Rural Bank PLC and the Prang Senior High School in 1992, Prang electricity promulgation in 1999 as well as the construction of the Prang market in 1996.
He said Nana Nyarko III was also credited with the construction of the Prang community centre, construction of Prang town roads and Prang-Kintampo Road as well as on-going construction of Agenda 111 hospital, one-district-one factory projects as well as the construction of Prang lorry station.
Some dignitaries including Nana Owusu Sakyi III, the President of the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr Agyemang Badu II, the Paramount Chief of Dormaa Traditional Area and President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs attended the event.
