The Ministry of Roads and Highways has been adjudged the Public Sector “PR Organisation of the Year” at the Ghana Excellence Awards, organised by the Institute of Public Relations (IPR) Ghana.
IPR Ghana recognised the Ministry’s “exceptional commitment to transparent communication, stakeholder engagement, and innovative public relations practice within Ghana’s public sector.”
“The award is presented to a public institution that demonstrates outstanding leadership in communication, adopts best-in-class PR strategies, and significantly enhances its brand reputation and public trust.
“The Ministry of Roads and Highways distinguished itself through its continued efforts to make information on road infrastructure development more accessible, timely, and impactful for all citizens,” a release copied to Ghana News Agency said on Monday.
Alhaji Nasir Ahmad Yartey, the Head of Public Relations at the Ministry, expressed appreciation to IPR Ghana for the honour.
“We are deeply honoured by this recognition. Effective communication is central to our mandate, and this award reaffirms our commitment to keeping Ghanaians informed about the delivery of critical road infrastructure across the country,” the release said.
“We dedicate this achievement to our hardworking staff and partners whose professionalism continues to drive our communication excellence.”
Over the past year, the Ministry has intensified its communication efforts through proactive media engagements, community outreach programmes, and strengthened relationships with stakeholders.
These initiatives have contributed to improved public understanding of ongoing projects, transparency in project timelines, and increased confidence in the Ministry’s work.
The Ministry’s Public Relations Unit has introduced digital communication tools, including enhanced social media reporting, visual storytelling of national infrastructure progress, and strengthened crisis communication systems to address public concerns swiftly and accurately.
The IPR Ghana Excellence Awards, the highest recognition for communication professionals and institutions in the country, celebrates organisations and individuals who demonstrate outstanding performance, accountability, and innovation in public relations practice.
The Ministry of Roads and Highways said it would sustain its communication reforms and strengthen engagement with citizens while delivering “safe, resilient, and modern road infrastructure for national development.”
