German President honours Nkrumah’s legacy at Memorial Park  

President Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany has paid tribute to Dr Kwame Nkrumah during a visit to the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in Accra.

The visit, part of his official working tour of Ghana, was to honour the memory and enduring legacy of Ghana’s first President and a prominent figure in Africa’s independence and Pan-African movement.

President Steinmeier was accompanied by Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and was received by Mr Yussif Issaka Jajah, Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts.

During a brief ceremony, the German President laid a wreath at Dr Nkrumah’s mausoleum in recognition of his pivotal role in Ghana’s independence and his vision for African unity.

He also signed the visitors’ book to commemorate the occasion.

The visit forms part of broader bilateral engagements aimed at strengthening Ghana-Germany relations and exploring new areas of cooperation and partnership.

The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, one of Ghana’s most iconic heritage and tourist sites, continues to attract dignitaries and visitors from across the globe who come to pay homage to the founding father and his contributions to Africa’s liberation.

Also present were Mr Devine Owusu Ansah, Director of Culture and Creative Arts, and Dr Collins Rawlings Nunyoname, Executive Director of the Memorial Park.
