Suspected criminal in police custody for possession of stolen items, narcotics

The Bono Regional Police Command has arrested a suspected criminal at Buoku, near Chiraa in the Sunyani West Municipality.

Suspect Evans Ameyaw, 25 years is presently in custody assisting police investigations, a statement issued and signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeeleh, the Public Relations Officer at the Bono Regional Police Command stated.

It explained that an intelligence-led operation conducted by a team from the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (PID), led to the arrest of the suspect on October 23, 2025.

The police retrieved some stolen items including four motorbikes, two tricycles, and seven compressed slabs of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp from the suspect.

It said the arrest followed receipt of credible information about the criminal activities of the suspect dealing in the sale of stolen motorcycles and tricycles in the area.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted collaborating with others in perpetrating the crime, and a search by the police in his room led to the retrieval of the items and narcotics.

The statement said stringent efforts were underway to apprehend other suspects involved in the syndicate, saying the suspect was assisting the police to trace the owners of the stolen properties, saying he would be arraigned before court accordingly.
