Students of ‘In My Father’s House’ orphanage school at Abor in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region, have received support from Mr Michael Foli Jarkidy, a Philanthropist and a journalist working with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) and Kekeli Radio in Ho.
The support included used clothing, soft drinks, boxes of biscuits, and other teaching and learning materials to uplift the standard of education in the area.
Mr Foli, presenting the items to the school, said the gesture marked part of his birthday and motivate the young learners.
According to him, the donation was part of the bigger effort to give back to the community and engage with vulnerable members of society to make a positive impact on the lives of others, no matter how small the contribution could seem to be.
“I believe that everyone has a role to play in making a difference in the lives of others. l have made this as part of my birthday schedules annually to support our younger ones here to feel at home and have a stable mind to study,” he said.
Mr Foli urged the students to make good use of the items donated, continue to excel in their studies, and encouraged other individuals and organisations to emulate his example and support the school to provide quality education and care to the children.
Mr Frank Amenyo, Deputy Director of the House, who received the items on behalf of the students and staff, expressed gratitude to Mr Foli for the kind gesture and pledged that the items would go a long way in supporting the school’s activities.
He said ‘In My Father’s House’ orphanage school was a home for many vulnerable children who have been deprived of parental care and support, and the school provides them with education, shelter, and care, and relies on the support of well-wishers to operate.
He said that the support from Mr. Foli was a clear testament to the power of kindness and generosity with a selfless act that has brought joy and hope to the students and staff, and the move should serve as an inspiration to others to make a positive impact on their communities.
