Mr James Ntim, the Berekum West Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Bono Region, has led party executives to seize some mining equipment and machines at an illegal mining site at Benkasa in the district.
The items seized included Chanfan machines, pipes, and generators.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Benkasa, a farming community, Mr Ntim said the party in the constituency remained committed to supporting the government to tackle the growing illegal mining activities in the country.
“We are not going to tolerate any kind of galamsey activity here, due to its devastating impact on the environment and farming activities,” he warned.
Mr Ntim refuted allegations that the NDC executives in the area were engaged in illegal mining activities and called on the community members to support the government to stem the menace.
