Pupils must prioritise discipline to excel academically-Rev. Martinson

Reverend Stephen Martinson, the District Minister of Aboso, Presbyterian Church of Ghana, has encouraged pupils in Victory Presbyterian Preparatory School to prioritise discipline to excel academically.

According to the former Regional Manager of Presbyterian Schools, Western and Western North Regions, nurturing discipline would enable them to stay focused and achieve their goals.

Rev. Martinson gave the advice at the climax of the church’s annual education week celebration in Aboso, in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality.

“Celebrating our heritage; Persisting in mission: The role of leadership in our schools”, was the theme for this year’s education week celebration.

He said celebrating their heritage was about preserving the Presbyterian traditions and values passed down from their forefathers, adding, they would build on the foundation laid by their predecessors to sustain their legacy.

That, Rev. Martinson noted, required a collaborative effort of stakeholders, including the government, local minister, teachers, parents, and children, stressing that each had a part to play to achieve their set target.

He stated that although the current environment posed significant challenges for today’s youth, the Aboso district under his leadership, would ensure that pupils in their school would be empowered to utilise their God-given abilities for good.

He appealed to the Church, philanthropists, corporate institutions, and Non-Governmental Organizations for support to enhance the school’s learning environment.

Mrs Thelma Etuah, the Education Chairperson for Aboso District and the Clerk of the church, challenged the pupils to live exemplary lives and inspire the younger generation.

She added that, “Choose your friends wisely because good company can motivate you to give off your best in future”.

Madam Juliet Quaidoo, Headmistress of the school, lauded the teachers for their outstanding commitment to education, urged the church members to consider the school for their children’s education for excellent academic guidance.

During the week-long celebration, they had drama, quiz competition, clean-up exercise, and marched through some principal streets in Aboso.

They also visited some stakeholders to seek support, and the whole school came together to worship.

Victory Presbyterian Preparatory School was established in 2005.
